UK’s Maritime Sector Workshop
UK’s Maritime Sector
Workshop
A productive afternoon working alongside the UKs maritime sector workshopping (is that a verb? Perhaps not), the future of the UK maritime sector in innovation and technology.
Covering decarbonisation, marine environment, economic growth, supply chains and security & resilience as headline topics, led by MarRI-UK with the National Shipbuilding Office.
Lots of dynamic, passionate and very lively debate in all areas. An introduction to the wild world of sea kelp. Is nuclear the answer to all things? Digital risks and opportunities. Where and how does autonomous operation fit in it all. Most importantly, how do we get from there (our end goals), to here (today) and what do we need to focus on to make it there.
Facilitated by the team from BMT, it’s the first of a set of workshops touring the country to enable input from all corners of our isles. If you’re working in the sector, have technology and ideas that may be applicable to the sector or just generally interested in contributing to these sessions then do get in touch with the team at marri-uk-dmem@strath.ac.uk to find out more. It’s important we have the best range of voices we can supporting the future of the UK maritime sector.
It was also good to pop into the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) HQ for the session, it’s been some time since I was last over there ☺️ .
